At CommuniTree Outdoor Education  we provide education, events and training to enable people to reconnect to nature.


Through our volunteering programme, we want to create opportunities for adults and young people to learn more about outdoor education and forest school. Our aim is to make sure all our volunteers have a safe, rewarding and enjoyable experience.


By volunteering  with us, you will be:


  • Supporting people to reconnect to nature
  • Working together, part of our team to facilitate outdoor education and event experiences
  • Helping to spread the word about the health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors in nature


No experience required.

Volunteer support assistant


Location

  • sites in Greater Manchester including Bury Grammar, Summerseat and Dunham Massey


Role Description

There is an exciting opportunity to volunteer with CommuniTree Outdoor Education as a Forest School support assistant.

We are looking volunteers with a passion for delivering outdoor experiences and working with children.


You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience.


Key relationships – Internal

  • Reporting to Directors
  • Marketing Manager
  • Training Coordinator
  • SEN Coordinator
  • Forest School Leaders
  • Forest School Assistants/ Support Assistant


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the team with the delivery of outdoor education experiences for a maximum of 35 children per day
  • Support the team with site set up, equipment and resources
  • Support the team to ensure the Health and Safety of all children attending these sessions
  • Support the team with site clear up, packing and fully ending the session
  • Report to the Forest school Leader
  • Contribute your own skills and abilities as under leader’s discretion 


Responsibilities of all CommuniTree Staff and Volunteers

  • Maintain an awareness of own and others health and safety and comply with CommuniTree’s health and safety procedures
  • Adhere to CommuniTree Outdoor Education values, policies and procedures
  • Comply with all relevant CommuniTree Safeguarding policies
  • A commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Attend volunteer induction training


Person Specification


Required

  • A real passion for nature play and engaging children with the outdoors
  • Enthusiasm for creating inspiring learning environments
  • Creative, adaptable and self-motivated with great energy
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes, is flexible and uses initiative 
  • Brilliant teamwork and able to work effectively in a small team
  • Some understanding of safeguarding procedures (training will be provided)
  • Some understanding of health and safety requirements (training will be provided)



Security

  • Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check
  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed
